This award-winning report investigates the growing unemployment crisis among Bangladeshi youth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the personal story of graduate Kazi Sylvia Tinni combined with national labor statistics and insights from an ADB-ILO joint report it illustrates how hiring freezes and layoffs have affected millions. The report made a compelling case for urgent, targeted employment policy reforms, which led to its recognition by AmCham.

The story featured first-hand accounts of middle-income and retired individuals who were losing money through legitimate savings channels, pushing many toward risky and unregulated financial ventures. With expert analysis and data-backed calculations, the report laid bare the systemic neglect of small depositors and called attention to the broader crisis of financial insecurity.
